We have an exciting new opportunity for a Nuclear Safety and Culture Learning Lead to join us on the MEH Alliance, working on the Hinkley Point C construction project.

Nuclear Safety Culture and Learning Lead plays a vital role in fostering a work environment where safety is paramount in nuclear operations. By fostering a culture of safety and continuous learning, you will play a vital role in protecting both personnel and the environment from the potential hazards associated with nuclear operations. If you are passionate about nuclear safety and possess the requisite expertise and leadership skills, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the field of nuclear energy. 

Accountabilities:

  • Develop Training Programs: Develop and implement training programs focused on nuclear safety principles, regulatory compliance, and best practices. 
  • Conduct Workshops and Seminars: Organize and facilitate workshops, seminars, and training sessions to educate employees at all levels on nuclear safety protocols and procedures. 
  • Promote Nuclear Safety Culture: Lead efforts to cultivate a strong nuclear safety culture by promoting open communication, encouraging reporting of safety concerns, and fostering a proactive approach to identifying and addressing safety hazards. 
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to assess potential risks associated with nuclear operations and develop strategies to mitigate these risks effectively. 
  • Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to nuclear safety, including maintaining documentation and records of safety training activities. 
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement through regular evaluation and feedback mechanisms and sharing on Insight. 
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, and regulatory compliance departments, to integrate safety principles into all aspects of nuclear facility operations. 
  • Knowledge Management: Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and regulations in the field of nuclear safety and incorporate relevant advancements into training programs and initiatives. 
  • Performance Monitoring: Develop and provide NSC KPI updates & reporting as per schedule. 
  • CFSI: Act as Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for Nuclear safety Culture including Counterfeit, Fraudulent and Suspect Items (CFSI) and Organisational Learning 

Requirements:

  • Proven track record in designing and delivering effective training programs, preferably in a nuclear or high-risk industrial environment. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

NG Bailey on the Hinkley Point C Project:

We are working across both Hinkley Point C units to deliver the infrastructure that will power the station and its operations, creating 1,000 jobs including many specialist engineers. Works include the design and installation of circa 76,000 cables totalling over 3,000km in length; over 180km of cable containment support systems; fire and environmental sealing; design and installation of earthing systems, and specialist packages associated with data acquisition and plant control.
